Who are we??

Who are we?

The roots of this choir stem from a small group that used to help at a local school's children's choir. The kids had so much fun we decided we would have our own singing sessions after theirs. When this group ended., our vision of bringing adults together to sing continued.

In January 2017 we invited members of our local community to join us in forming Portchester Community Choir. We are now a local choir who enjoy singing every week during term time.  We have grown from a group of about 20 people to a full choir 0f 80 members. We have also grown in confidence and  perform at a variety of local events. We even did a flash mob in Portchester precinct one summer day!! Shoppers joined in and it put a smile on everyone's faces.

We don't just sing! Every so often half of the choir session is spent getting  to know one another better (and eating cakes!). Our social committee also organise some fabulous evenings for us throughout the year.

We share our money as well as our voices. It's important to us that we support other community groups and we regularly donate money to charities both nationally and locally.

We meet in the Methodist Church Hall but we are not attached to the church in any way. It's just a great venue to hire each week.

In the summer we hold an annual concert to showcase everything we have been learning throughout the year which is always great fun. There is absolutley no pressure to perform at any gig though. It's fine to come along and sing every week without participating in a public performance.

Oh, and we don't audition either, so if you feel your voice might not be the best, come along anyway and just enjoy singing.
